Dying for Mercy Review
Tuxedo Park is a gated community where the wealthiest and most prestigious people reside. To gain admittance to The Black Tie Club is very hard to do and people are continuously turned down. When Eliza Blake, co-host on the news show Key to America, receives an invitation to a party in Tuxedo Park she knows she’s in for a good time. The party is at the home of Innis and Valentina Wheelock who are friends of Eliza.
Before the party is over, tragedy strikes when Innis commits suicide in the most unusual way. Eliza believes she was the last person to talk to Innis and is filled with guilt over not seeing the warning signs. She looks back on their conversation and remembers him saying that she would make everything right.
Eliza is determined to figure out why this man would kill himself and uncover the secrets he hinted at. Innis loved puzzles and left behind an elaborate puzzle that will lead to the truth and destroy many lives in the process. Will Eliza be able to put the clues together and find a killer or will the killer discover her plan and put an end to this cat and mouse game?
Dying for Mercy is a thrilling mystery with numerous suspects and motives to be revealed one by one. The chapters are very short which leads to fast reading with one discovery after another in each chapter. The point of view alternates and is tricky at times with numerous narrators. There are a handful of characters and one must pay close attention to remember them all so you can put together the clues to the puzzle.
Fans of The Da Vinci Code are sure to enjoy this well crafted story that includes religious references to St.Francis of Assisi and Jesus Christ’s crucifixion. Overall, I adored Clark’s writing and found this book to be an excellent story that kept me captivated until the exciting conclusion.

Daring the Moon Review
Taite Gibson is an investigator for the Pima County Attorney’s Office and doesn’t normally scare easy. But when a werewolf attacks her, she learns what it means to truly be terrified for her life. Taite’s friend Declan O’Connell is there with her to witness the werewolf attack and is determined to find a way to protect her from this vicious creature.
Declan has a friend named Ryder Merrick who is a horror author and knows all about werewolves. Declan hopes Ryder will be able to tell him how to protect themselves from this werewolf and hopefully kill it.
Declan and Taite travel to the remote island home of Ryder and beg him for his help with the werewolf. But Ryder doesn’t want to visit with anyone and the last thing he wants to do is teach Declan and Taite all about werewolves. Despite his reluctance, Ryder welcomes the two into his home for the night. Instantly, Ryder and Taite feel chemistry and can’t deny their instant attraction.
Will Ryder help Declan and Taite learn about werewolves? Will Declan discover secrets about Ryder that he would have rather not known? Will Taite find herself in love with Ryder and not see the werewolf coming when he decides to attack? Will they make it off the island alive or will a sneak attack change their lives forever?
DARING THE MOON is a paranormal romance that sizzles with danger, romance and sexy scenes that are extra steamy. This is the first book that I’ve read by Sherrill Quinn and I loved every page of it! The story moves along at a fast pace as Declan and Taite are running from a werewolf but without the knowledge of how to stop him. Ryder holds all of the answers but refuses to help them and this leads to a lot of tension in his friendship with Declan.
The romance between Taite and Ryder is very entertaining and had my interest from the beginning. I am definitely a huge fan of Sherrill Quinn now and look forward to her next book Seducing the Moon and her story in the anthology Belong to the Night. Overall, DARING THE MOON is a fantastic book and I can’t wait to read more by this very talented author!

The Art of the Heist Review
The Art of the Heist is the infamous Myles J. Connor Jr’s true story about his wild years in the 60’s through early 80’s robbing banks, museums, having shootouts with police, and spending a huge portion of his life in and out of jail being accused of heinous crimes. Connor’s grandfather helped instill in him his love of art from a young age.
As he reached adulthood, Connor craved to own the beautiful swords and paintings that he always adored. He would steal from the archives of some of the most famous museums and was even offered a curator job once. But the biggest heist Connor has ever done is to steal a Rembrandt off a museum wall and use it for negotiating his prison sentence.
When not robbing banks and museums, Connor was the lead singer of a rock and roll band called Myles and the Wild Ones. He was known as The President of Rock and Roll to his numerous fans. Connor had a genius level IQ and could have attended any prestigious college that he wanted but instead he chose to live a life of crime.
To this day, the 1990 heist of The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is still unsolved and the paintings are still missing. Although Connor was in jail at the time, the FBI always believed that he was somehow involved in the $300 million heist.
The Art of the Heist is the best memoir that I’ve read in a long time! Books about bank robberies and heists have always fascinated me and it was thrilling to read about a true story. Connor’s life while full of adventure had to have been sad for him. He was addicted to living a life of crime and suffered the consequences for it.
Connor’s memoir reads like a fiction novel with suspenseful action and nail biting courtroom drama. The book was heavily researched beforehand to ensure accuracy and that none of Connor’s confessions would cause him to return to jail. Overall, this is an outstanding true crime memoir that readers will greedily devour in one sitting.
Gotcha Review
Macy Tucker has lived her entire life not trusting men. Every man she’s ever known has disappointed her one way or another and she refuses to put her heart on the line again. She currently works as a pizza delivery girl while attending law school. Love is the last thing on her mind after recently finalizing a divorce from her cheating husband.
Macy’s brother Billy is serving time in jail for his part in a robbery. While in jail he exchanges love letters with another inmate’s girlfriend, resulting in the girl dumping the other inmate and falling for Billy instead. This inmate, Tanks, is not one to cross and Billy finds this out a little too late. After Tanks shoots a prison guard and threatens to kill Macy, Billy escapes from jail.
When Sergeant Jake Baldwin meets Billy’s girlfriend Ellie, he doesn’t take her seriously. From her bimbo looks, to her cartoon voice, to her outlandish claims of wanting to report a murder that hasn’t even happened yet, Jakes turns Ellie away without thinking twice about it.
After Jake meets Macy, he realizes Ellie’s accusations are all too real. Tanks is a dangerous killer and won’t stop until he exacts his revenge on the people Billy cares about most. Jake grows fond of Macy and decides to be the one to protect her day and night, from Tanks. But being in close proximity to Macy makes Jake start to feel emotions he swore he’d never have again. Will Macy and Jake fall for each other and give love one more chance? Will Jake be able to properly protect Macy from Tanks?
GOTCHA is a romantic suspense novel by author Christie Craig. Craig introduces readers to new characters in this independent story outside of her series. GOTCHA focuses on the heartbreak and emotions of starting over with someone new after being cheated on by the person you loved most.
There’s plenty of action and suspense that will leave readers anxiously turning the pages. Macy and Jake are perfect for each other and have instant chemistry from the second they meet. Macy’s mother and grandmother are hilariously eccentric and contributed to some of the funniest scenes in this book. GOTCHA has romance, comedy, suspense and great writing, what else could I ask for?

One More Bite Review
Jasmine "Jaz" Parks is back in another adventure as a CIA assassin who specializes in supernatural cases. After killing The Raptor in Bitten to Death, Jaz thought maybe she could breathe easier for now. But there’s no time for resting because she has another case to work. The CIA received information that someone named Bea has plans to assassinate the leader of The Coven of Inverness. With the need to keep the peace between everyone, Jaz has orders to protect the coven leader from being killed and to take out Bea. But without knowing what Bea looks like, this mission proves to be a difficult one.
Jaz flies to Scotland to stay at the coven leader’s B&B posing as ghost hunters along with her partners Vayl (vampire boss and love interest), Cole (fellow partner who has the hots for Jaz) and her father Albert who drives her insane. There’s a convention in town called GhostCon so there’s lots of people coming and going at the B&B and plenty of suspects. Will Jaz, Vayl, Cole, and Albert succeed in this mission or will one of the key players’ lives become in jeopardy?
One More Bite is the fifth book in the Jaz Parks series featuring CIA agents Jaz, Vayl and Cole. Noticeably absent in this book is tech guru Bergman and seer Cassandra. As with Bitten to Death, one or two characters tend to take a backseat when someone new is moved into the picture. In Bitten to Death it was Cole and Cassandra so Dave could have a part and in this book it’s Cassandra and Bergman so Albert could shine.
I adore Cole so I was glad to see him back with a nice big part in this new book. Albert was rather eccentric but he proved to be there for the crew when they truly needed him. As with all of the books in this series, I would not recommend reading them out of order. To truly experience this series it should be read in order starting with Once Bitten, Twice Shy.
Jaz and Vayl’s relationship progresses to the next step which is welcoming after waiting for so many books for them to get together. The supernatural elements were fabulous. I found this installment slightly reminiscent of Phaedra Weldon’s series which I adore. There’s a ton of action packed fights and near death scenes that will leave the reader in utter suspense until the exciting conclusion of this phenomenal story. Look out for the sixth book in the Jaz Park Series, Bite Marks due out October 29, 2009.

I don't like historicals...I think.
I did something weird today. I bought a historical romance novel. I don't read historicals and I don't think I like them. I used to read Connie Mason and Bobbi Smith years ago, but I'm not sure if they're historical. (I just looked it up and they are historicals. Wow I used to love their books. hmmm) Anyway so I bought two historical novels by an author who also writes paranormal romance. I read two of her paranormals and went nuts over them. She has a third one coming out but it's not out yet and I really wanted to read more books by her. So I knew from the beginning that she has another name that she writes historicals under, but I didnt pay much attention to it because I don't think I like historicals!
So I was in the bookstore today...and low and behold I see her other name books there. I touched them. I fondled them. Then I bought them. Do you think this will dissapoint me for her paranormals? I've seen blog posts before questioning whether you would follow an author no matter what genre they write in. I will follow authors from paranormal romance, to mystery/thrillers, to contemporary romance, and that's about it. But I guess I will follow them to historicals now too. Hmm. Let's see if I end up reading it or not. I don't want to say the author's name cause if I don't read it, I wouldn't want her to see this and be insulted or anything. But if I do end up reading it anytime soon...I'll post about it!
I think I want to discover a new genre to me like historicals. After reading so many rave reviews about The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley, I really want to read it now. I may experiment with historicals...Any suggestions?

I WANT THIS BOOK!!!!
Summary from author's site:
When Homicide Detective Kara Gillian finds traces of arcane power on a body, she quickly realizes that this is no ordinary murder. The serial killer known as the Symbol Man is a nightmare that Beaulac, Louisiana thought had ended three years ago, but now he's back for an encore and leaving every indication on the flesh of his victims that he is well-versed in demonic lore.
However, Kara is a Summoner of Demons, and may be the only cop on the city's small force who can stop the killer. Able to see and interact with a world most people can't, Kara soon discovers that the Symbol Man is also a summoner, one who seeks to gather enough arcane potential to summon a Demonic Lord--a potent entity who, if bound, would give the killer nearly unlimited power.
But Kara has encountered this Demonic Lord before and has been unwillingly marked as the Lord's own. With the aid of an FBI agent who may be more than he seems, Kara must stop the killer and keep the Lord from being summoned, all while defying the same Lord's demands that she call him to her--an action that could bring new and terrible meaning to the phrase "Hell on Earth."

Hard and Fast Review
Imogen Wilson is a sociology grad student who needs to come up with a thesis for her degree. She has two friends who have both been married to race car drivers and decides to attend a race with them. Imogen is completely infatuated with the famous Ty McCordle but he has a trashy bimbo girlfriend named Nikki and she would never be his type. Nikki lets Imogen in on her plan for Ty after showing her a self help book titled ‘’How to Marry a Race Car Driver in Six Easy Steps". After seeing the book, Imogen has an idea for her thesis. If she can follow the steps from the book, she can do her thesis on the subject of whether or not someone can actually find a husband by following steps from a self help book!
Ty McCordle loves his job as a race car driver but his love life is incomplete. His girlfriend Nikki has nothing going on in her head besides air and he wants something more substantial, perhaps someone to grow old with. He plans to break up with Nikki and the minute he meets Imogen, he realizes that she’s everything he has been looking for. Sure she’s not his sexy bimbo type, but that’s exactly why he likes her. Imogen is extremely intelligent, passionate and everything Ty is looking for in a woman.
After ending things with Nikki, Ty and Imogen embark on a sexual relationship that is extremely wild and hot. Night after night they share themselves with each other, but can Imogen expect more from this relationship with Ty? Will Ty fall in love with Imogen and want to be with her or will their relationship just be about sex? Ty has a secret that he doesn’t want Imogen to know about. How will Imogen react when she learns the truth from Ty?
Hard and Fast is the second book in the Fast Track Series featuring sexy race car drivers and their love interests. The story moves along at a fast pace with a large abundance of sex scenes in every chapter. The sex scenes were extra steamy and incredibly ambitious in the crazy positions and ways the two would have sex. Readers of erotica are sure to love this story as there is plenty of that in this book.
My small complaints are as follows. I didn’t like Ty continually calling Imogen, ‘’Emma Jean’’ just because it sounds like Imogen. It wasn’t her name and I found it to be disrespectful and lazy of him to not even care about trying to figure out how to say her name properly. Even after he finds out what her name is, he still calls her Emma Jean. While this may be seen as sweet or a nickname, to me it was annoying.
I didn’t care for the abundance of sex scenes. I do enjoy a hot scene every now and then but it felt like such a large portion of the book was all sex. I wanted to learn more about the characters and just have something more going on. Overall, I did enjoy Hard and Fast as it was a sweet and light hearted romance that wasn’t difficult to read. A little less erotica, and more story would have been more to my liking, but this was a good book.

PACKING HEAT is a fast paced romantic suspense novel with entertaining dialogue and witty banter that will keep readers engrossed for the entirety of the story. Throw in some action-packed fights, provocative sexual encounters, thrilling suspense, and a sweet romance and you have the recipe for a captivating book! Overall, Packing Heat is a delightful story that romance and suspense readers can equally enjoy.

Too Hot to Handle Review
Annabelle Ronaldi comes from a traditional Italian family with a nagging mother who can’t wait to marry her daughter off and have some grandkids already. But Annabelle isn’t ready to get married or even be in a relationship right now. She was supposed to be married but after discovering her fiancé was a loser, she ended the engagement at the last second.
Annabelle’s sister Rosalie just happened to be newly engaged and so she took Annabelle’s dream wedding, prearranged and everything. At the wedding, Annabelle meets a man named Mike who bares a striking resemblance to her late boyfriend Chip. When she wakes up in bed with Mike the next morning after the wedding, things get complicated.
Dr. Mike Flynn is a lung doctor and has a busy life. He’s never been married or engaged before but would like to be married one day. After waking up in bed next to Annabelle, he regrets nothing. The girl is drop dead gorgeous and everything he is looking for in a woman. Sure she’s a slob, but he’s great with cooking and cleaning and can take care of that. Their sexual chemistry is undeniable and before the two could even learn about each other’s past, it’s too late. Mike and Annabelle become a couple enmeshed with each other, but is it just sex or something more?
Annabelle is having a hard time dealing with dating Mike at first because of his resemblance to Chip, her boyfriend who died of cancer. Mike is so strikingly identical that he could pass for Chip’s twin brother! Without wanting to bring back sad memories, Annabelle doesn’t explain to Mike how much he looks like Chip. After all, she wouldn’t want him to think that’s the only reason she slept with him! How will Mike react when he discovers the truth about Chip? Will this secret cause them to break up or will it bring them closer together?
TOO HOT TO HANDLE is the second book in a series featuring men who like to cook and clean for their women. Even though this is a series, this book can be read independently without the reader being lost for any information. After having read Romeo, Romeo (the first in the series) I was instantly excited by Robin Kaye’s debut into the romance genre. TOO HOT TO HANDLE is even better then Romeo, Romeo and shows what an outstanding author Robin Kaye really is!
The first book had a healthy dose of humor, but in this second book there is a solid storyline that is so intriguing and interesting that it gives so much more depth to the series. The romance is extra steamy with plenty of authentic love scenes to heat up the pages. The characters are heartfelt people who I related to instantly. The storyline moves along at a fast pace with excellent dialogue and a sassy heroine. I loved everything about TOO HOT TO HANDLE and will be raving about this book to all of my friends. Overall, TOO HOT TO HANDLE is an outstanding contemporary romance that readers will fall in love with and want to read over and over again.

Dark Highland Fire Review
Rowan an Morgaine is a Drakkyn sorceress from the Dyadd Morgaine line. She is supposed to be the Dyana to her people but right now she’s stuck on Earth posing as a stripper. Rowan lost her mother, sisters and aunts after the dragons invaded and murdered all of them. Rowan feels responsible for the tragedy and knows it is because she refused an evil dragon named Lucien Adrakkar’s marriage proposal. The Morgaine women never belong to only one man so traditionally Rowan refused Lucien’s proposal, not realizing the extent of his obsession with her.
After losing her family, Rowan and her brother Bastian are now hiding out on Earth to keep Rowan safe from Lucien. Bastian asks the MacInnes werewolf pack in Scotland to look after his sister and protect her, particularly, Gabriel MacInnes. Gabriel is not the leader of his pack nor is he next in line but Bastian has chosen him to guard Rowan the Dyana. But guarding Rowan is a hard task because she’s not content to just sit around in Gabriel’s nasty sweat pants all day long and watch horrible Earthling television. She wants to go out and have some fun!
Gabriel finds himself falling hard for Rowan as they grow closer to each other day by day. Will the werewolf and the sorceress fall in love or will the evil dragon tear Rowan right out of his arms and claim her as his own?
DARK HIGHLAND FIRE is the second book in a series by paranormal romance author Kendra Leigh Castle. Each book features different characters and can be read independently, although I usually prefer to read series books in order. I was able to follow along perfectly without having read the previous book so it isn’t entirely necessary but after reading Castle’s book you’re going to want to get the others!
This was my first book by Castle and I was blown away by her writing and imagination. The world in this book is so vivid that I could picture it perfectly. The story moves along at a fast pace with suspense, romance, erotica, and paranormal elements all nicely combined in one story. I adored everything about Dark Highland Fire and I am anxious to read book three Wild Highland Magic, out now. Overall, Dark Highland Fire is an A+ book and left me captivated and addicted from the second I opened the book to the exciting conclusion.
